Summit Stories from Climbers

“Don’t adventures ever have an end? I suppose not. Someone else always has to carry on the story.”

— Bilbo, The Fellowship of the Ring

Kris’ Story

Kris was in the first group to join Climb29 in the late fall of 2018. Kris started the journey as a man quiet about his addiction and unable to talk about it but driven down by the shame of not knowing how to move on from an addiction to Inner Circle that started in his youth. Kris showed courage, commitment and curiosity and was able to get to the top of Mt Everest on January 25th, 2021.

Kris’ Climbing Tools:

  • All of the tools helped in some way.

  • The most effective tools used were, addictive cycle, addictive system & NNAIA

  • The tool that helped to reset, remind and motivate me on the journey was The letter to Myself.

Kris’ Verse:

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you."

- Deuteronomy 31:6.

John’s Story

John was in the first group to join Climb29 in the early winter of 2019. John started his journey with Climb29 as someone who thought going inner circle would always be a struggle for him. John had given his all to many accountability groups and lasting change over his unwanted sexual behavior never came. During our time together, John worked hard to investigate his story and allow Jesus with the other climbers to walk next to him in his pain and finally put this temptation to rest. Now, John is a new man and stands tall with his Climbers and Jesus Christ. John showed courage, commitment and curiosity and was able to get to the top of Mt Everest on January 25th, 2021.

Dom’s Story

Dom was in the first group to join Climb29 in the late fall of 2018. He started out barely unable to talk about his unwanted sexual behavior. Dom carried so much shame and for most of his life was trapped by what Evil whispered to him: You are gross, alone and pathetic. Now, Dom is a new man and stands tall with his Climbers and Jesus Christ. Dom showed courage, commitment and curiosity and was able to get to the top of Mt Everest on January 25th, 2021.

Dom's Climbing Tools:

Dom's Verse:

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

- Psalm 139: 7-12

Cameron’s Story

Cameron joined Climb29 on 6/11/2020. Cameron had two burdens he was carrying: an addiction to Porn and severe panic attacks. By the Grace of God and a lot of hard work to stand against Evil, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Cameron is a new man in Jesus. Cameron carried so much shame and for most of his life was trapped by what Evil whispered to him: You are a failure and will always be a failure. Now, Cameron is a new man and stands tall with his Climbers and Jesus Christ. Cameron showed courage, commitment and curiosity and was able to get to the top of Mt Everest on January 31st, 2024.

Cameron’s Climb:

  • First Step: 6/11/2020

  • Summit: 1/31/2024

  • 3 Years, 7 Months, 20 Days

Cameron's Climbing Tools:

  • The J-Curve - really helped me visualize the changes in how we approach suffering and love now and moving forward compared to before

  • Practical things like:

    • NNAIA - helpful for me to orient myself and "follow procedure" when needed

    • The letter to myself to tread during preoccupation

    • Understanding my own distorted worldview. Having solidified (mostly) understanding of why i wanted inner circle and what the draw to inner circle comes from.

    • the inner circle / outer circle visualization and way to reference where we are at

    • the lifelines / ability to text others and the  curiosity / questions and prayer and encouragement that resulted each time.

Cameron's Verse:

"For i know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, to give you a hope and a future "

  • Jeremiah 29:11
